Extremely thin veneers (0.2 – 0.5 mm) are called contact lenses because of the optical effect they present like their ocular counterparts. They are primarily indicated for veneering teeth that have a good color substrate but are deficient in form. Because of their extremely thin nature, only enamel-like shades of composite are indicated. One such composite is Omnichroma, which produces its color based on the structural color concept and can be used in varying thicknesses to generate life-life esthetics. When used with the direct-indirect technique, its esthetic potential is magnified because of the associated benefits that include superior marginal adaptation and polishing and greater control over the final anatomy. In this hands-on, the participant will learn step-by-step how to perform a direct-indirect contact lens on a maxillary central incisor under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Fahl.The masterclass will be conducted in English

MONOCHROMATIC DIASTEMA CLOSURE RESTORATIONS AND POLYCHROMATIC CROWN FRACTURE RESTORATIONS

Direct resin composite restorations are preferred in anterior teeth as well as posterior teeth with the developing materials and methods in adhesive dentistry concept. These restorations mimic the natural dental tissues very well as they have advantage of being minimally invasive in a single appointment. Closing the gaps (diastemas) between the anterior teeth is a common clinical application especially following an orthodontic treatment to enhance the smile aesthetics of the patient. Also, the direct restoration of crown fractures with composites is one of the best possible options in clinical practice. These restorations can be performed minimally-invasively or even without any preparations if the axis, torque, and position of the teeth are in proper position. With the development of the optical properties such as color adjustment potential and the mechanical properties such as durability and wear resistance, both functional and aesthetic restorations can be performed with the resin-based composites quite effectively in a single-visit in daily practice.This course will be in two parts. The first part will be about the monochromatic layering techniques for the diastema closure restorations, under rubber-dam isolation with free-hand layering. The second part will be about the polychromatic layering strategies for the uncomplicated crown fracture restorations using the silicone index. Live demo on artificial model will be performed by the teachers.
